Check-In Volunteer: (OUTDOOR POSITION)
*If this is your first shift please arrive 15 minutes before the shift start time to be briefed on using our tracking database.
This role is crucial in helping us meet the needs of our community with compassion and respect. Multi-lingual individuals are encouraged to volunteer, although this is not a requirement.
The Check-in volunteers will be tasked with calling numbers for the waiting guests, using their membership card to check them into the food bank, and directing them to the appropriate food line.
This volunteer role involves using our online database to track visits and additional items. You will work alongside a "Hygiene Runner" who will assist in retrieving any additional client needs such as diapers, pet food, menstrual products, and 'No-Cook' bags for people experiencing homelessness.
We are currently checking-in neighbors outdoors in an outdoor, non-climate-controlled area so recommend dressing appropriately.
Additional duties include:
- Directing neighbors who do not have a membership card to register in our office.
- Setting up or breaking down the check-in station.
- Direct neighbors to our Community Connector on site to access Vouchers, Financial Assistance program, and other resources.
- Stocking the check-in rolling cart.
